Reform Activities

Ethiopost aims to become a powerhouse in the service industry by fusing accessibility with versatility.

In 2020, Ethiopost began to reform and restructure the institution for increased efficiency and innovation. Our major objectives were to improve resource allocation, create space for the private sector to flourish, and address major vulnerabilities.

Ethiopost has launched different initiatives to reform its business activities with the objective of improving service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction; enhancing operational performance; modernizing its processes and preparing the organization for new business opportunities.

Reform is a never-ending process that results in continuous improvement of the organization.  Ethiopost implements reform activities to increase profitability, ensure access to services, and comply with regulatory requirements.

In the past two years, Ethiopost has turned a new leaf. The institution is exceeding its profit targets, and employee morale is markedly increased. These gains were made at a price;  the company has done a complete rehaul of its IT infrastructure and financial systems and employed significant undertakings for other major systematic upgrades.

Since the reform, we have made tremendous changes, a dramatic increase in profits including but not limited to the introduction of new and innovative services, implementation of a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning system, and increased brand visibility as a result of our persistent efforts. These achievements and improvements have also increased our United Postal Union (UPU) global rankings in multiple categories.

Ethiopost’s ambition is to continue innovating sustainable solutions for our modern problems. We are at the forefront of the logistics and delivery sector, and we aim to be trendsetters in our field. This is why we are committed to and actively engage in the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy through our partnership with various governmental and non-governmental organizations. We are moving with the times and moving the needle in terms of access and reach for the people of Ethiopia. Post for everyone!

Recalibration

Proper structuring of business units and support teams is important to achieve the objectives of an organization. The structure should have clear reporting channels and define the roles and responsibilities of all positions.

Organizations should align their structure with their business objectives. Ethiopost launched an internal study to assess the structure and business units. Challenges and shortcomings of the existing structure were identified and a recalibration plan was prepared to address these in the short term.

The major objectives of this initiative were to identify and streamline overlapping responsibilities; establish clear and effective reporting channels; match business units with their tasks and business activities; merge similar units and segregate others. This was successfully implemented with the approval of the Board of Directors.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

Ethiopost has implemented Finance (FICO), Human Capital Management (HCM), and  Material Management (MM) modules of SAP. ERP implementation helps our organization to optimize and manage its resources efficiently. Traditional systems lack transparency and effectiveness in carrying out business operations.

Compared to the traditional way of doing business, ERP systems reduce personnel requirements; shorten the time taken to complete tasks; improve the efficient use of resources; enhance financial management and reduce the risk of fraud and theft.

International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Ethiopost is actively working to be IFRS International Financial Reporting Standards Compliant which is intended to make its accounting and financial reports and processes consistent, transparent, and easily comparable around the world. Ethiopost being a member of the UPU and complying with IFRS would help maintain an up-to-date working relationship with the fellow member countries..

Digitalization of Mail Services (Virtual Post Box)

As part of its digital transformation journey, Ethiopost launched app.ethio.post—introducing the Virtual Post Box service in December 2025. This digital solution expands postal accessibility beyond physical locations, allowing customers to access, manage, and track postal services via their mobile devices and computers. The platform aligns traditional postal functions with modern digital expectations, offering faster and more convenient service delivery.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System

To elevate the customer experience, Ethiopost implemented an enterprise-wide CRM system across all service channels. Traditional customer support mechanisms lacked centralized tracking, making issue resolution slower and less traceable. The new CRM provides a unified view of customer interactions, streamlining inquiry tracking, resolving complaints efficiently, and ensuring consistent service quality across all touchpoints.

PostCore (Core System Implementation)

To modernize operations and establish a unified central database, Ethiopost developed and deployed PostCore. This platform serves as the backbone for key internal processes, including comprehensive employee management and administrative workflows. By centralizing operations into a dedicated internal system, Ethiopost has significantly enhanced operational efficiency, standardized data management, and improved internal accountability.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Development

Consistency and quality control are essential for large-scale operations. Ethiopost initiated a comprehensive project to develop detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for departments across the organization. These SOPs establish clear, standardized workflows for daily tasks, reduce operational bottlenecks, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as a reliable foundation for onboarding and continuous performance monitoring.

Corporate Rebranding

To reflect its modern operational capabilities and forward-looking vision, Ethiopost underwent a major corporate rebranding. The rebranding initiative extended beyond a visual refresh—it signaled a strategic shift toward becoming a competitive, tech-driven, customer-centric postal and logistics provider. The modern identity strengthens market positioning and reinforces trust among local and international partners.

ConVox Contact Center Solution (CCS)

To complement its CRM rollout and modernize communication infrastructure, Ethiopost deployed the ConVox Contact Center Solution (CCS). This system optimizes call routing, enables multi-channel communication, and provides real-time analytics on customer support performance. By upgrading its contact center infrastructure, Ethiopost has dramatically reduced wait times and improved customer engagement and satisfaction.
