AJORA FALL /WOLAITA/

It is possible to visit Ajora water fall from two directions. The first possible option to reach the fall is through Wolayita Zone Bolese Bombe District, Ajora kebele, which requires to travel 238 km from the regional capital Awasa city, while from the Zone Capital Sodo it is 68 K.M to reach the fall. Before reaching Areka town, visitors need to detour to right hand side, then arrived at the fall.

After getting of the car, the visitor is expected to walk on foot and can observe the natural companions of the water fall, distance and depth of the water fall, double falls, green covered, Gorge of the river as well as the natural sound of the water fall when reached the ground and its falls smock and the rainbows formed by the water fall.

In the second route alternative, the water fall can be accessible through Kenibata Tenbaro zone which is 285 km away from Addis Ababa. Here the visitor is expected to cross the roundabout of Lesho and after arriving of the city Hadero town it is a must to detouring towards the left hand side and at 6 km distance you can see the Ajora Water fall.

After getting the car, visitors are expected to travel on foot on the edge of the Gorge of the river and can watch and enjoy the fall, leaning on the trees of the edge. The fall formed of sock and Ajato rivers.

The distance between both falls is about 200 meters area. Ajata fall is about 180 meter while Socke is about 150 meter length from the beginning to the arriving ground which means two different falls reached the ground side by side and named jointly Ajora fall.

After the two falls landed on the ground, they become joined and flow as a single river with the name of Ajora River. The Ajora water fall silently flaws with silence to their left hand side of Wolayta zone border as starting point and detours left hand side laying on the Kacha Bera District and joined with Sana river which comes from the North Direction.

THE BLUE NILE FALL (TIS ABAY) /GOJAM/

Blue Nile, the Grand River in Africa, is one of the natural wonders of Ethiopia especially for its breathtaking falls. The Blue Nile Falls near Tisa bay town, 30 Kilometers South East of Bahir Dar has been drawing the attention of tourists from different corners of the world. That is why thousands of visitors are seen streaming to this most spectacular scene.

The Blue Nile Falls is locally known as “Smoke of Fire” that the water stretched on 400 meters wide surface and plunging dramatically 45 meters deep and creates drizzly plethora that in turn produces bright rainbows across the gorges of the river. The water, after running from the top of the gorge or Clift, it up to 1 km length of a steamy smoke. The curtains of the spray fascinate any visitor and will not ever vanish from memory. Specially, a morning visit rewards tourists with the amazing rainbows. These falls is endowed with marvelous landscapes, natural forests and multicolored birds.

On the way to Tis Abay Andasa Mineral Water is found in a small island Formed by the Blue Nile River. Furthermore, to the West of Tis Abay Town, some 7 kilometers off the road in the extended escarpment of Yagume ridge, surrounded by stunning natural scenery, there is an impressive rock hewn church called Dengay Debelo which is said to have been hewed by St. Lalibela before his coronation.

To reach the falls, there are two alternative ways. One is the through 1.5 kilometers road Eastern out skirt of the town to the parking lot, which lies on the edge of the blue Nile gorge. Then after walking for about 20 minutes crossing the 17th C footbridge locally called Alata Bridge that had a historical value built by Portuguese, a crescent shaped gorge appears with a thunderous noise; that is, the Blue Falls.

The other alternative is the route through the North East of the main road where the local people cross the river with papyrus reed boats. For the guests, motorboats are hired to cross the waters. After plying across the waters, a 30-40 minutes walking along the bank of the river is required to reach the bottom of the falls. But using the former route gives chance to visit the historic footbridge, the spectacular sceneries, and also it provides a chance to watch birds in the forest and in the gorge. or else both ways can be used, one to go to falls and the other to turn back from the falls.

SOR WATER FALL /ILU ABBA BORA/

The road From Jimma to Metu, via Aggaro and Bedelle towns, leads through vast and extensive tropical forests. Metu, the capital of Ilu Abba Bora Zone, is situated at 255 kilometers from Jimma, or 600 kilometers from Addis Ababa. A detour at the southern edge of Mettu on the left side of the main road from metu to gore, leads visitors to reach the nearest site to Sor waterfall at the distance of 27 kilometers from Metu. Quarter an hour down walk through the Forest and coffee plantation on a narrow path takes visitors to one of Ethiopia’s most magnificent and delightful waterfalls of Sor River which pours over the lip of a broad chasm over 20 meters deep.

This natural amphitheater, heavily overgrown with tree ferns and grasses, forms a delightful spot to savor the primal atmosphere of Ilu Abba Bora Zone and the scenic beauty of the waterfall. The intact natural vegetation and the wildlife that take shelter in it enhance its attraction for sightseeing.

HABERA WATER FALL /BALE/

Location:- Habera waterfall is found at Bale Zone Dinsho woreda. Its found at a distance of about 14km from the woreda capital of Dinsho town at south east direction.

Attraction:- It’s part of bale mountains national park natural tourist attraction. It’s created from the mix of Qalo River and the Harbera River itself. The water falls from a length of 20 m up down. Around this water fall the existence of red fox and beautiful landscapes are anther attractions in the area.

Naming:- its literal meaning ‘women urine’ According to the information from the local people, its first name in Oromo language called ‘fin can bera ‘means’ women urine’ the water fail have gains this name, the falling of water sound is it looks like a sound of when women’s having urine because of calling by this name is considered as defaming there. fore its changed and called Harbera.
