Seven decades ago, on November 7, 1917, the proletariat of Russia under the leadership of the Party of Bolsheviks headed by Vladimir Lenin, triumphed in the struggle against exploitation social and national oppression. The foundation of the world’s first Soviet Socialist state was laid and the Soviet people set out to accomplish the most difficult task of the socialist revolution, the task of construction. Under the guidance of the Communist Party (primarily it was called the Bolshevick Party) the working people of the Soviet Union, selflessly overcoming the enormous difficulties which they encountered on their way, implemented Lenin’s plan of the construction of Socialism.
The achievements of the Soviet state over the seven decades give a convincing evidence of the fact that Socialism has ensured the unprecedented in history rates of progress in all the aspects of the life of Soviet Society.
The Great October Socialist Revolution created the world socialist system and speeded up the process of decolonization particularly in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Since that Great Revolution a considerable number of countries have taken the path of Socialism. Therefore, today, more than ever before, the ultimate world-wide victory of Socialism is assured.
The lessons and inspirations of that Great Revolution are invaluable to oppressed and progressive humanity. Thus, Ethiopia which took the path of Socialism recently and is in the midst of a far reaching popular revolution Commemorates the Great October Revolution with special revolutionary fervor.
