Artist Billata Emealaf Hiruy
Born in shoa administrative region, Selale awraja, in Fitche town, and lived from in 1907-1971.
The artist acquired his skill from his father, Alka Hiruy. Among his works are the wall-paintings in the former parliament building, and in the churches of St. George, St Mary, St Markos and trinity, as well as in the municipality building of Addis Ababa .He held exhibitions at various place in Ethiopia .He won prizes for his best works.
Artist Agegnehu Engida
Born in Gondar Administrative Region, Mahidere Mariam and lived from in 1905-1950. He pursued fine Arts in France, Paris, at the Ecoledes Beaux-Arts. Among his works are wall painting in various churches, the designs on the former Ethiopian Birr notes (1-500). Twelve donkeys, family. Indian girl, a painting in the former parliament building and a self-portrait. He held several exhibitions in Addis Ababa.
Artist Belachew Yimer
Born in Gojam administrative region and lived from 1869 to 1957. the artist developed his skills solely by his own efforts on the basis of tradition.
Some of his works are the battle Adwa, congregation of wild Animals, The matrimony of mouse and cat, The journey of the Queen of Sheba, wall-paintings of St. George’s church in Harar, Ethiopian stretching out Her Hands, the battle of Matamma.
A few of his works are found on the Institute of Ethiopian studies, Addis Ababa University. Though he did not hold any exhibitions, he won a gold medal for his paintings for Ethiopian.
Artist Yigezu Bisrat
Born in Addis Ababa and lived from in 1926-1979. After developing his artistic skill under the tutorship of Artists Agegnehu Engida and Abebe Woldegiorgis, he served in the ministry of education as an art teacher for number of years. Among his works are Ethiopian letters in Gothic script, ornamental designs, for diplomas and degrees, mother and child.
The artist participated in group exhibition held in Addis Ababa and Lagos, Nigeria .He was awarded a certificate of merit for his long years of service as an art teacher.
